We’re proud to announce the completion of the very first Bridges to Offshore Wind Program at Kingsborough Community College!
Earlier this month, we teamed up with the non-profit Opportunities for a Better Tomorrow (OBT) for a comprehensive Construction and Clean Energy Training which provided students with OSHA and scaffolding trainings, and Bridges to Offshore Wind.
Bridges to Offshore Wind is a new 15-hour presentation that provides a comprehensive introduction to offshore wind energy and the emerging local OSW industry, an overview of occupations, review of labor market data, and information on a variety of pathways to careers in OSW. During this launch, students heard from guest presenters from OSW developers including Vineyard Wind, Bluepoint Wind, Atlantic Offshore Wind, Atlantic Offshore Terminals, Invenergy, and the Workforce Development Institute. Students also got to build functioning wind turbine models.
Congratulations to the first group of students completing this program! A heartfelt thanks goes out to all of the guest presenters and companies that made this program a success!
