Targeted to ESL learners, this federally funded WIOA grant program focuses on helping students improve their English, learn cooking techniques and food preparation skills, and study for the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH) and nationally recognized ServSafe certifications, in preparation for careers in the food services industry. The program incorporates ServSafe and NYC DOHMH Food Handler certification practices, covering health and safety during hands-on food preparation.

To be eligible to enroll, applicants must be English language learners demonstrating an intermediate/advanced level of English language skills.
Among the benefits, this program (free to eligible applicants) prepares students to take the industry-recognized DOHMH and ServSafe certification exams, assists students with the development of a resume and interviewing skills, and provides counseling, referrals, and job placement services.
