CUNY Supports Students with Conviction Records

CUNY launched the Supports for Students with Conviction Records resource page to provide prospective and current students with conviction records, and those that support them, with a comprehensive repository of resources, tools, and opportunities at CUNY in an easily accessible format. The webpage outlines:

  • Frequently Asked Questions about attending CUNY with a conviction record
  • An overview of the education programs, opportunities, and services available across CUNY to support students at various points in their educational journey
  • Resources around accessing and paying for college; employment, career, and licensure information; and connections to various external communities.

The content of the webpage was developed by the CUNY Justice Learning Collaborative. The CUNY Justice Learning Collaborative is a cross-university community of faculty, staff, administrators, and students led by the John Jay College Institute for Justice and Opportunity. Its purpose is to create a more equitable and accessible CUNY that is inclusive of those with lived experience in the criminal legal system. Partners include accenture, amazon, Goldman Sachs, Google, New York-Presbyterian, the New York Times, and others. The Jobs Council’s goal is to hire 100,000 underrepresented New Yorkers, with at least 25,000 of whom being CUNY students.

Assemblymember Frontus Supports the Farm

Assemblymember Mathylde Frontus visited the new KCC Community Farm and Garden to present President Claudia Schrader with a check for a wonderful grant that will help us revitalize the space for the KCC community. We are proposing installation of ADA compliant permeable paver walkways on portions of farm, rebuilding aging beds, creating new accessible beds, installing shade structures, benches, noise barrier, water feature, and children’s area. VP Simone Rodriguez and Interim Assistant Dean Christine Zagari-LoPorto were also on hand to welcome Assemblymember Frontus. Thank you Assemblymember Frontus for your support!
