Spring 2024 graduates of the Contextualized Free ESL & Food Handlers Program proudly display their ServeSafe certificates of completion! They were joined by ESL instructor, Marina Khusid, culinary instructor, Chef Alan Hirsch, program coordinator, Sabina Krivenko, and CLTs, Veronica Walrond and Aurora Ponce.
Prior to receiving their honors, participants gave beautiful presentations on their future restaurants. The spirited event concluded with a buffet of delectable culinary creations prepared by our student-chefs.
Targeted to ESL learners, the Contextualized Free ESL & Food Handlers Program focuses on helping students improve their English, learn cooking techniques and food preparation skills, and study for the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene and nationally-recognized ServSafe certifications, in preparation for careers in the Food Services Industry. The Program incorporates ServSafe and NYC Department of Health (DOH) Food Handler certification practices, covering health and safety during hands-on food preparation.
