Weatherization Training Program
This free training program will provide participants with career exploration and technical training in Weatherization. Students will receive supportive wrap-around services including free metrocards and food vouchers, as well as case management support and resources are included.
The program begins with a Career Planning course and the Bridges to the Renewable Energy program, and is then followed by the NCCER Weatherization Technician Program.
Weatherization technicians improve the efficiency of heating and cooling system ductwork. They repair windows and insulate attics, basements, walls, and other areas. Technicians inspect, repair, and optimize heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. They clean or replace filters, calibrate thermostats, and ensure that HVAC systems operate efficiently, providing comfort while minimizing energy consumption. This 150-hour program is completely free and is scheduled to begin in March of 2025.
The next Weatherization Training Program has a tentative start date of March 26th, 2025. To get updates on the start date and receive the application when it is made public, please reach out to Vanessa.Fantauzzi@kbccc.cuny.edu and ask to be put on the Prospective Students list for the next Weatherization Training Program.
